NEWS FROM CAMP

SEVEN DAYS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Week 5 of summer camp 2012 has come and gone. Not with a whimper, but with a hale and hearty, yo-ho-ho! As always, it has been an amazing week here at YMCA CAMP EBERHART.

Monday, the Baker-Cooper boys’ Blue Moon wish was to try night-tubing out on good ole’ Corey Lake. The 9&10 boys chose to play “capture the flag” whilst 1&2 girls held an Alice In Wonderland-themed tea party (curiouser and curisouser).

On Tuesday, we hosted another infamous counselor auction, which always begs the question, “why are all our counselors so keen to do this?” With ketchup, mustard and various other condiments, including freezing cold water, all over them, they probably didn’t think this through beforehand. But that’s what makes our counselors so great!

Wednesday night activities involved pirate racing with small boats made out of sticks and string. The champions were from the Hill cabin, although everyone have fun trying to keep their own Cap’t Egg safe!

Thursday night brought some much needed rain to the area, but that didn’t dampen our mood. The whole camp took to Klinger Hall for a Sing down. We enjoyed choosing songs with words the “judges” chose for us. Cabin 3&4 brought the house down and were named the winners.

Finally, on Friday, the entire cap gathered on the waterfront to participate in “Float The Fleet.” Every boat on camp sailed, canoed, kayaked and sped around Corey Lake, with all the onlookers cheering them on, in true Pirate spirit!

A special thanks to the newest crew of CITs, who are already proving they can do amazing things.
